During the 87th#TXLege, the legislature made some limited improvements to #TCUP but critical aspects of the bill were removed in the Senate.

Governor Abbott has officially called for a Special Session which will begin on July 8th. During the special session, only he can set the agenda. This means that only the bills that Greg Abbott chooses or asks to be brought to the floor, can be heard.

Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition (RAMP) have started an email petition asking Gov. Greg Abbott to add medical cannabis to his agenda for the Special Session. The link https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/governor-abbott-include-medical-cannabis-in-the-special-session/

RAMP is asking that you please share this petition with your networks so the governor can hear from as many Texans as possible. There is a comments section on the submission page where you can add some personal notes if you desire.

As well, you can call (512) 463-1782 which is the Governor’s opinion line, and you can leave a message voicing support. do not use foul or threatening language in either your emails or your voice messages. Here is an example script you can use,

“Hi, my name is _____ and I am a Texas voter that supports the Republicans Against Marijuana prohibition’s request to add medical cannabis expansion this session. My understanding is that you were supportive of the bill that was passed this session in its original form. I would like for you to consider adding medical cannabis to the special session because unfortunately, our Senate gutted the bill you did sign along with the people’s voice and left multitudes of Texans in need behind this session. I thoroughly believe that Texas should be a state that helps its patients that are most in need, by allowing doctors the most avenues to treat their patients. I yet again ask that you add medical cannabis expansion to the special session coming up. Thank you for your time and patience with me on this matter”
