According to the analysis of one of the nations largest drug test providers, Dallas leads the country in positive workplace marijuana test rates. Quest Diagnostics (QD) recently unveiled data that ranks the top 10 U.S. cities for marijuana positivity.

In fact, Texas has two cities in the top 10, as Waco jumps in at the final spot. Marijuana possession is still very much illegal in Texas. Neither of these cities has usurped the power to legalize cannabis from the state.

The city of Dallas does observe a cite and summons policy for low level possession. Waco continues its prohibitive stance on marijuana.

Texas passed the Texas Compassionate Use Act in 2015. This created a restrictive medical marijuana program for intractable epileptic patients only. However, the medicine has a THC cap that won’t get the user high. So before you think medical cannabis is the culprit, think again.

QD also notes that workplace positive cannabis rates are up overall throughout the country.

Whatever the reasons for Dallas and Waco, this suggests marijuana isn’t going anywhere in Texas. The nation is changing and the Lone Star State must learn to change with it.
