88th Texas Legislature Cannabis Bills

The 88th Texas Legislature will convene to begin on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at noon. Prefiling of legislation began on November 14, 2022. The 140th and final day of the 88th regular legislative session, known as “Sine die” is May 29, 2023. We hope to keep this page updated with bills as they are filed in the regular session. If a special session does take place with cannabis bills, a separate article will be published to address the situation. Read the article to learn more today. Five Texas cities decriminalized cannabis flower in elections

Yesterday, Texas voters in San Marcos, Denton, Killeen, Elgin and Harker Heights showed strong support for ballot propositions to decriminalize misdemeanor marijuana possession. The results were overwhelming in favor. Read more to see the results from the election

Biden pardons thousands of federal marijuana offenders

The POTUS has pardoned federal marijuana convictions and us called for changes to be investigated on a federal level. Texans will voice their opinion Saturday in Ft Worth on the POTUS call for governors to follow suit.

This week in review WNBA star Brittney Griner has been sentenced to 9 years in Russian Penal Colony and advocates are voicing out. The City of San Marcos will see decrim on the ballot in November. San Marcos city council sends decriminalization measure to the ballot

Mano Amiga along with other advocacy groups such a Ground Game Texas and Texas Cannabis Collective gathered signatures of registered voters across several months. Those signature were delivered to City Hall at the end of May, and were verified just this past week. The San Marcos City Council was then required to decide on whether to pass the measure themselves or send it to the November election ballot.

Federal cannabis legalization bill unveiled in Senate

Senate Democrats unveiled a bill that has been long in the works to propose marijuana legalization, placing the matter in the hands of state legislatures. While the bill aims to not only legalize marijuana, it will establish FDA monitoring requirements like those that already in place for tobacco and alcohol.
