The Texas House of Representatives gets it.  Will the Texas Senate?

Wikipedia

In a historic 121 – 23 vote on Monday evening, the House passed House Bill 1365, Rep. Lucio’s Texas Compassionate Use Act expansion bill.

This makes two cannabis related bills passed by the Texas House with a super majority this legislative session; with the hemp bill also passing the House, unanimously 144 – 0.

Texas representatives are listening and apparently, they are listening well, as a majority of Texans support reforming cannabis laws to some degree; whether that be decriminalization, medical, recreational, or all of the above.

Now… how about the Senators?

We’ve recently seen the President of the Senate, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, come out in opposition to reducing penalties for possession of cannabis and expanding Texas’ limited medical program.  Will the Senators that preside under him follow his lead?  Or will they support what their constituents and a growing majority of Texans want?  Will Republican Senators stick to the Texas GOP platform, or vote with their personal dislikes with Plank 107 (on Texas GOP Platform).

These questions will be answered soon as there are only 20 days left in the 86th Legislative Session; 21 days for the Senate to act and be on the right side of history.  These next 3 weeks will be very interesting.

Do you support the reform bills that are now in the Senate?  If so, now is the time to let your Senators know – time is ticking away.  You can email them here.
