Get ready to make one of the biggest stands you can for cannabis in Texas at the state capitol.
Mark it on your calendars that Tuesday March 11th, 2025 is the Texas Cannabis Collective Citizen Lobby Day at the Texas Capitol, starting at 7am for breakfast and registration.
At 8:30 am presentations will begin to include but not limited to speakers from the Texas Cannabis Collective, Last Prisoner Project, and Texas Cannabis Policy Center. This will be informational sessions on the issues that have come forward since the beginning of session, what to expect when visiting with legislative offices, and much more.
At 9:45am we will send people off in groups to begin meeting with their respective legislative offices.
If you can’t arrive until after 10am, late registration will be available across the street from the Capitol at The Botanic Bliss Lounge 1701 Guadalupe St. Austin, Texas 78702
We highly suggest reaching out to your representatives in advance to schedule meetings with their offices. This will help you get to talk with the staffers who handle their cannabis policies, however most offices will allow walk ins for brief discussions with whichever staffer is available. Find out who represents you here.
Nervous about lobbying? We are hosting a free, virtual training on Monday March 3rd at 7pm CT
We will be hosting a celebratory social, post-lobby day as well starting at 4pm at Cosmic Saltillo located at 1300 E. 4th Street ATX 78702.
We suggest arriving early to park in the Capitol parking garage at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd Austin, TX 78701. There is also limited street parking in the area. Please keep in mind this event takes place during SXSW, we highly encourage carpooling, using rideshare services, & arriving early. Disabled Veterans with plates park for free in available garage parking and at any paid meter in Austin. Friendly reminder that with recent law changes over the past few sessions in Texas, DV (disabled veteran) plates on their own are not enough to park in a handicap spot. Handicap placard or the handicap symbol is needed on your license plate to avoid tickets and/or towing.
Dress to impress! Our suggested attire is business professional. Suits and blazers are highly recommended, though other forms of business wear are acceptable as well. Keep in mind you’ll be walking and standing quite a bit, so heels are not recommended. Think of how one would dress if going to court and trying to make the best first impression they can with a judge on how professional you can look. The Texas Capitol also serves as the State Supreme Court building, so expect to go through a security checkpoint with metal detector and x-ray.
No! This event is beginner friendly and open to all Texans who want to make their voice heard. We do suggest attending Lobbying 101; our free virtual training event on Monday March 3rd at 7pm CT. A google-meets link will be sent to the email you registered with at our eventrbrite signup. As well if you cannot find the link after confirmation of registration you can visit the link here to sign up for the training.
Only requirement is a good attitude, though business cards are great if you have them! We suggest bringing a pen and paper as well, though we can provide some if needed.
As well, do not forget that Monday March 3rd is the Senate Committee Hearing for SB3 which looks to gut the Texas Hemp program with regulation. More information on that topic can be found in our article about such.
As well, be sure to check out the current cannabis week schedule which will be posted up on the Texas Cannabis Collective socials found at the top of this website.
