That doesn’t mean it’s dead yet. There could be a revival of the bill, just as much the Governor could call a third session to tackle the issue.
But it is much better than a total ban. We need age gate regulations, child resistant packaging, and new standards for business to school distances on newly registered businesses after the regulation is placed.
As well, let’s be clear that this isn’t a failure of an industry; it is not an attempt by the industry to continue having a wild-wild-west with hemp products. It is a failure of a single Senator and the Lt. Governor
Both bills have been referred to Public Health in the House. As well both of these bills have been sitting there awaiting a hearing. The thing is now is that the Governor and the House have a vastly different view of how to handle the hemp program in this state. The public was made aware of a meeting the Texas Hemp Business Council had with Governor Abbott recently, and it appeared Abbott had come to some sort of amenable position on this.
